Collingwood Beachcomber Motel

The Beachcomber Motel is situated only 200 metres from the beach with the Aorere River estuary (home of the spoonbills) on our back doorstep. It is a short walk to local restaurants and the famous Rosy Glow Chocolates shop. The renowned Farewell Spit Eco Tours operate from right across the road. Stay at the Beachcomber and enjoy the proximity to nature and Golden Bay’s unique lifestyle and climate.

First settled in 1842 and named Gibbstown, today's Collingwood is a mixture of old and new.


Farewell Spit



New Zealand's longest sandspit stretches from Fossil Point for 35km across the entrance to Golden Bay.
